Ten kinds of home care
Most families start with one and add another later. If you are not sure which fits, say what is happening at home and we will tell you.
Caregivers work in shifts so that someone is awake, dressed and paying attention at three in the morning, not asleep on the sofa. It is the option families reach for when the nights have become the hardest part.
A person answers at any hour, and the first visit to the house costs nothing.
Call (916) 229-8120The nights are usually what breaks a family. Days can be covered by a daughter dropping in, a neighbor, a meal left in the refrigerator. Nights cannot. Somebody has to be awake when a father gets up at two in the morning and heads for a bathroom he can no longer reach safely, and for most families that somebody has been a spouse in their eighties who has not slept properly in months.
An overnight caregiver watches, helps, and tells you what happened. They do not assess or record anything clinical, change a dressing or give an injection. If the nights are hard because of a medical problem rather than a mobility or memory one, say so on the call and we will tell you who to speak to.

Free, and no obligation. We look at the routine and the layout, then put a plan and a clear cost in writing before anything begins.
Matched on skills and on temperament, and introduced before care starts. A second familiar face is kept ready for vacation and sick days.
There is no single number for around the clock care, because the shape of the week decides it. What changes yours is how many hours actually need staffing, whether the nights are active or mostly quiet, and whether the weekend looks like a weekday. We look at all three at the visit and give you a plan and a clear cost in writing, before anything begins.

In 24-hour care two or three caregivers rotate in shifts and the overnight caregiver stays awake. In live-in care one caregiver stays in the home with a scheduled sleep period. 24-hour care suits someone who needs help during the night; live-in care suits someone who mostly sleeps through.
Yes. Plenty of families across Sacramento and Placer counties start with overnight cover so the spouse or adult child can sleep, then add daytime hours later if they are needed.
It depends on the caregivers available and on the match. Call Guiding Souls Home Care at (916) 229-8120, at any hour, and we will tell you honestly what we can staff and when.
