Home care across El Dorado

El Dorado County has the oldest population of the four counties we cover, at around 25 percent aged 65 or over. It also has the most demanding geography. Housing climbs into the foothills, properties get larger and further apart, and the drive between two clients can be longer than the visit itself. That is a scheduling problem before it is a care problem, and it is the honest reason we do not claim blanket coverage here.

What we can say is that the care itself does not change with the elevation. The free visit, the written plan, the matched caregiver and the phone answered at any hour are the same in Placerville as they are on Fair Oaks Boulevard. Call and give us the address, and we will tell you what we can actually do.

Coverage

We do not publish a town list for El Dorado

Not because we are being cagey, but because coverage here depends on where our caregivers actually live in a given month. Listing towns we might not be able to staff properly is how families end up let down in week three.

What to do instead

Call (916) 229-8120 and give us the address. If we can reach you well, we will say so. If we cannot, we will say that instead and point you toward someone who can.

What home care costs around El Dorado

There is a published median rate for this whole metro area, and it is the honest starting point for a conversation about money. Our guide to what home care costs across the Sacramento region gives that figure, explains the assumption buried in the monthly version of it, and runs the arithmetic at the amounts of care families actually buy.

If the question is who pays rather than how much, how families pay for home care in El Dorado County covers what Medicare will and will not cover, how Medi-Cal's IHSS program works, and what VA Aid and Attendance is worth.

Questions families ask

Home care in El Dorado, answered

If yours is not here, ask it on the phone: (916) 229-8120.

Does Guiding Souls reach El Dorado Hills or Placerville?

Call Guiding Souls Home Care at (916) 229-8120 with the address and we will tell you. We would rather answer that honestly for your street than publish a list of towns and then struggle to staff one of them.

Is home care harder to arrange in the foothills?

Scheduling is harder, because distances are longer and caregivers are more spread out. The care is not. What we will not do is accept a schedule we cannot keep, because a caregiver who cannot get there reliably is worse than no caregiver.

Can you help if my parent is still very independent?

Often that is the best time to start. A few hours a week of company and transport, accepted while it is still optional, is much easier than personal care introduced in a crisis.
