What the work actually is
You go to somebody's house and help them do the things they can no longer do alone. Washing, dressing, getting to the bathroom safely, a meal that is actually eaten, the laundry, the shopping, the drive to the eye doctor. Some of it is physical. Most of it is showing up, noticing what has changed since last week, and being good company for a few hours.

Do I need experience to work as a caregiver?
Not necessarily. Guiding Souls hires for character and trains the rest through the Guiding Souls Training Academy. What cannot be trained is showing up when you said you would and treating somebody's mother the way you would want yours treated.
What does the hiring process involve?
A conversation first, then background checks, reference checks and the applicable California requirements. Submitting an application does not create an offer of employment or any employment relationship.
What kind of work is it?
Non-medical home care: helping with bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders, housekeeping, errands, transport and company. Shifts range from a couple of hours a week to overnight and around the clock cover, across Sacramento, Placer, Yolo and El Dorado counties.
